On April 26, we leave Chengdu to fly to Changsha in Hunan Province. We'll be staying at (I think!) the same hotel that we stayed in 2000. If I remember correctly, it was a very nice hotel.
This is the heart of the trip, because Clay's life began in Hunan Province, and it was in the nearby Zhuzhou orphanage that Clay spent the first 3 years of his life. Even more exciting is that we are going to be allowed to visit the orphanage -- something that I think is still unusual.
From Zhuzhou, on April 29, we will travel by bus to Zhangjiajie national park and spend the next few days seeing the sights, which if you follow the link above, you'll see are pretty spectacular. This is a UNESCO heritage site for good reason!
We'll stay at the Pipaxi hotel, then the Dragon hotel in the village before we fly back to Beijing on May 2, overnighting in a local (probably dumpy) airport and flying home on May 3.

Yes, the Changsha hotel is the same one we stayed in in 2000 - The Grand Sun City. Very luxurious - a huge marble (?) spiral staircase coming down into the lobby. Fun for 3-year olds to hop from one step to the other.
I wonder if they still have the top-floor "playroom" with mirrored walls?
